Name: Sonya Michelle Burnquist
Age and Year: 15 - 5th year
Birthday: July 4th
Gender: Female
House and/or Occupation: Slytherin student.
Residence: In the summer, Sonya lives with her family in Liverpool but spends some time in their vacation estate outside Aberdeen, Scotland.
Pet: Sonya hates animals.
Appearance: Sonya is all about details, even when other people don't notice them. Her nails are always immaculate, her lips always glossed, and she always makes sure there's never a blonde hair out of place. Her clothes- always the height of Muggle fashion- are perpetually wrinkle-free without a speck of dirt in sight.
She is of only about 5'3", with a smart bob haircut and hazel eyes. Her skin is fair and freckled on her cheeks and shoulders. Sonya doesn't overdo it, but she's never seen without makeup- at the very least, a light dusting of foundation, and a few swipes of mascara. Under her robes, she almost always wears dresses or skirts; light sundresses, woolen pencil skirts, and so on. She usually picks solid colors or modest patterns, and her favorite colors are emerald green, black, and silver.
Sonya wears one piece of jewelry at all times; a silver-wrought ring, custom commissioned for her by her father, in the shape of a serpent coiled around her ring finger. Of course, she always has a set of matching earrings and a necklace, but none of these hold the same sentimental value.
Personality: Growing up, Sonya was used to people vying for her attention, trying to get close to her and seeking her approval. This is not because Sonya is particularly special, except by virtue of her birth; her father is a well-known actor in the Muggle world. Used to affluence and being spoiled by her parents, Sonya quickly became spoiled. She wasn't shy about flaunting her father's fame, and subconsciously enjoyed the starstruck reactions from many of her peers, not to mention the perks of being related to celebrity. She tended to surround herself with people who would respect her because of her last name, and disregard the ones who didn't.
Now, of course, things are different; at Hogwarts, few people have heard of her father and fewer are impressed. Suddenly deprived of constant adoration, Sonya found she'd have to make friends based on the caliber of her personalty, and it was here she was lacking. Not that the girl is malicious, but she is self-centered and can be manipulating. She can be terribly moody, as well; sweet and flattering, to reel people in, and rude to keep them from getting too close. Deep down, Sonya always knew many of her friends weren't interested in her, but her status, and has developed a thick skin to keep from being hurt by that.
She is superficial and judges people based on the quality of their clothes and how they dress themselves. Not that she doesn't understand personality and appearance are separate- she just doesn't understand why someone wouldn't want to always look their best. Sonya is a neat freak, and filthy conditions can reduce her to near-panic conditions.
Although she isn't altogether stupid, Sonya is not a Ravenclaw by any means. In primary school, she coasted, partially because of her father and partially because of her own skills of manipulation. Somewhat self-deceptive, Sonya likes to think of herself as very intelligent and has been forced to actually try now that she's enrolled in Hogwarts. This has led her to be slightly bitter towards the entire wizarding world.
On the positive side, you'll never find a more determined person. When she wants something, Sonya sinks her teeth in and doesn't let go. Her goals usually inclusome sort of upgrade in influence or status, and this is why she fits in Slytherin.
History: Sonya's father, John, was born to a wizard and a Muggle woman, and unfortunately, he did not inherit his father's magical abilities. So, John grew up as a regular person and, in his teens, discovered his talent for acting. He became famous quickly, both for his acting and skill as a writer. He met Nicole in his mid-twenties, and after a tempestuous courtship, she became pregnant and both families pressured them into marriage.
Their first daughter, Sophia, was born and for a few years, everything went alright. Then things around the house began mysteriously disappearing and popping up in strange places. Sophia's stuffed animals danced on their own accord and the family dog turned purple. John finally had to sit Nicole down for a talk about his family history. To his surprise, she spoke first and confessed she was a witch and a graduate of Hogwarts. They were both relieved were relieved to find the other already knew the secret, and it was decided Sophia would attend Hogwarts when she got the letter.
Sonya came along a year later, when her father was nearing the height of his fame. She began exhibiting signs of magic much quicker, much to the pride (and frustration) of both her parents. When the girl was about eight, the family moved from London to Liverpool to be a little closer to the school. At 11, Sonya received her letter, as expected, and has been attending school ever since.
