Name: Eduardo Calderón Harrow
Age and Year: 17
Birthday: August 10th, 1978
Gender: Male
House and/or Occupation: Ravenclaw student
Residence: London, England.
Pet: A pretty, short-haired black cat named Jane.
Appearance: Eddie is 6'3” and lean, somewhat gangly although that stage should be far behind him. His eyes are dark, practically black, and his hair matches although hints of lighter brown are brushed through it here and there. He has a long face and slanted eyes, with thick eyebrows that always seem low, as if he's worrying about something.
He pretends not to care, but style is important to Eddie and he pays attention to how he dresses, although some of that attention is focused on making himself appear not to care. He often wears pearl snap shirts and dark jeans, and he's picky about size so they usually fit very well. He's less finicky about his hair, which is riddled with cowlicks and difficult to control, so he just tries to keep it from getting too long. That tousled look is in right now, anyway.
Personality: Pensive, self-conscious, and insecure. Eddie is too worried about what impression he makes on people. He has an image of himself that he really wants to get across, and becomes worried if he suspects someone's gotten the wrong idea about him; that he's crass, or stupid, or weird. He's an excellent actor and, to most people, seems relaxed and nonchalant by default, but Eddie can never quite relax. Being embarrassed is one of his great fears.
Luckily for him, Eddie is intelligent and determined. When he wants to do something, he can usually figure out a way to get it done, and he's not likely to give up. Growing up with such insecurities, Eddie learned to craft the facade of a careless, sarcastic and composed young man. He'll lie if present company calls for it, then pretend not to remember if he's caught later; but he is eloquent, and pretty good at lying.
For his own protection, he's developed an unfavorable opinion of most other people; he considers them less intelligent and less perceptive than him. At the same time, he envies the contentment he's projected onto others, assuming them to be without the hangups that he has. This leads him to continue to look for approval from other people, even when they do things he considers beneath him.
Eddie loves to draw and his art has been both a calming influence and source of neuroticism. He doesn't think he's very good and stresses about failing to improve. His preferred medium is graphite on paper but he has adapted to the ink and parchment readily available at Hogwarts. A part of him wants to show his work to people he likes, hopefully to make himself look good, but a much bigger part is too afraid of seeming eager, or of having them dislike his work, or not 'get it'.
Having been sorted into Ravenclaw, it's unsurprising Eddie is smart. He loves to learn, but as with other things, he is very careful not to seem to enthusiastic. He studies in private, in order to make his good grades seem effortless.
History: Eddie's mother, Victoria, was on holiday in Spain when she met his father, Hugo. They connected immediately, and although young Victoria had to go home to London, they kept up a long-distance correspondence and visited each other. After a few years, they were married and moved to Tarragona, Spain. Their marriage was happy even though Victoria was keeping a secret from Hugo: she was a witch.
Eduardo was born at few years later, followed by a daughter, and then another. Things were still harmonious in the household, although the stress of living like a Muggle was beginning to wear on Victoria.
Then, Eduardo turned 11. A letter from Hogwarts came, and suddenly his mother had a lot of explaining to do. Unfortunately and perhaps understandably, Hugo didn't take the news well, and when Victoria performed a spell for him, he nearly went into hysterics and threatened to call the police. Not knowing what else to do, Victoria magically erased his memories: of her, of their wedding, and even of Eduardo and his sisters. Heartbroken and fraught with guilt, she moved her family back to London and tried to keep herself together as she got her son ready for Hogwarts.
From the very start, Eduardo disliked London; he missed the beaches of his birthplace, and of course, above all, he missed his father. His first few years at Hogwarts were rocky, and he wasn't popular. Slowly, he learned to adapt to his new home, struggling to perfect his English and erase any semblance of an accent. He adopted British fashion and insisted on going by Eddie, and things became easier, at least on the surface.
