Name: Lonán Ashford O'Ciardha
Age and Year: 17, 7th year
Birthday: February 2nd
Gender: Male
House and/or Occupation: Hufflepuff/ part-time employee at Dervish and Banges
Residence: Hogsmeade, Wintercrown Street, 516 Green House
Pet: Cooley, a marbled feline with a squashed nose and cropped ears. Hates catnip.
Appearance: Skinny, long-limbed, with a narrow torso and bony shoulders. He's still growing, but at the moment he's only five foot eleven. The other members of his family are all short, so no one is quite sure how he's become so tall. As for his dark, nearly black hair, he keeps it shaved on either side of his head while the rest grows long and wavy on top. He's abnormally pale, likely from being inside most of his life, and is almost always seen with a melancholy, unhappy smile on his face. His eyes are a heavy blue, like the bottom of a glacier under the arctic sea. His nose is long and prominent, lips full and wide, eyes heavy-lidded and his cheek bones are highly pronounced. While he may have ink stains on his hands at times, he's actually a very clean individual. As for his wardrobe selection, he prefers to keep up with muggle fashions unlike the larger population of clueless wizards and witches. Wearing something thirty years out of date is extremely ridiculous in his mind.
Personality: Lonny is, in short, strong-willed, inventive, vain and unpredictable. Honestly, putting him in Hufflepuff likely saved the sanity of the other houses. While generally quiet-spoken and considerate, full of general compassion and coyness, he's rather two-faced. No matter what he's feeling, he's always keeping an eye on the people around him, analyzing and forthright. Without batting a lash, he'll throw out personal questions to individuals he barely knows. Maybe his sense of humor is too twisted to realize he's put others on the spot.
Frankly, he's more interested in knowing as many people as he can and seldom works to make a relationship last. He has several commitment issues and going "steady" with any one gent or lass doesn't settle well with him. Freedom is a heavy pull on his heart, after all. With so much to see and do, getting tied down scares him right down to his painted toes. It'd take a fascinating person to make him stop and second guess his devil-may-care outlook on relationships. Especially since he's always thinking about "the future" and what he might do with it - the present day tends to bore him quickly.
Although he's an certified genius at Charms and Potions, he'd never fit in among the Ravenclaws. Study? Why bother? If his aloofness isolates him from others, no matter. There's always more people to play with. He's a huge mixture of ambiguity, realism and volatility. If he's bored, he'll mope; if he's moping, someone might end up with pink hair. If that happens, he'll likely be calling them "friend" in the next heartbeat. There's no true rational to how he works. He respects people without restraints and individuality. He dislikes being pulled along for "a cause", since he just hates doing things that are conventional or "stupid."
History: Once upon a time there was an Irish-Gaelic couple with great ambition. They had little money, although both were from pureblood families of age and repute. However, their lack of funds did not stop their desires. The husband, Rellaund, was an expert in all things broken and in need of repair. His wife knew charms and transfigurations better than any witch he'd known. Putting their heads together, they found a way to take over the management at Dervish & Banges, one of the local specialty shops in the village of Hogsmeade.
Five years later, a baby boy was born. He was a little small for a newborn, but otherwise he seemed completely normal. By the time Lonny turned two, his mother Antiera discovered that her precious son was something of a mischief maker. Lonny had found her wand and had somehow persuaded the contents of their library to dance through the air while he sat laughing in the centre of it all. Pleased and surprised, the busy couple began bringing Lonny to work to keep him out of trouble. Unknowingly, this would be the beginning of Lonny's eccentric upbringing.
All the shopkeepers in Hogmeade's have stories about the "dark little raven" that kept them on their toes for nine years. Lonny comes back to Hogsmeade almost every weekend during the school year and helps out at his parent's shop - Dervish & Banges - during the summer. He has no active interest in one set path in life: at Hogwarts, he rarely answers any questions about his future with any seriousness.
Inventory: A huge stash of candy; a few "devices" from his parents and a levitating cat bed.
